The Gallery is OPEN!!!

My grand opening went really well! It feels so good to be officially in business now. I absolutely love decorating and coming up with creative ideas to display things. My next goal is to start organizing the upstairs of the carriage house, so that I can open it up for more inventory. Stay tuned for some before pics of that project!

Finishing Touches!

The final preparations are being done at the gallery. My wall of antique doors are in place and ready for artwork to be displayed on them and behind them. Kelly and I went to an awesome estate sale this morning, and got quite a few cool things! The shop is full, but nothing has price tags on it yet.....so, that is what I am working on next. I can hardly believe that in just a little over a week Shiloh Farm - Vintage ARTiques will be open for business!!!

Cupola Windows!

I had windows installed in the cupola recently! I am going to put a very bright light in there, so that my carriage house will glow every night. I also had the old, rotting spire taken down, and my copper, rooster weathervane (that once belonged to my stepdad!) put on top. I'm just glad that I didn't have to be the one to climb up on that ladder!!!

Entry Doors!

Here are the entry doors for the gallery! The final installation was today, and I painted the primer (pale yellow) on the surrounding wood this afternoon. After it dries, I will paint over the primer with the same bright yellow that is on the rest of the carriage house. This is a huge project ticked off my to-do list!!!

Doors going in!

I recently went to the Heritage Company downtown, and found a pair of french doors to use as the entrance to the gallery. The owner of Heritage told me that he is pretty sure that those doors were from a house on Gull Lake, so they are coming back to Richland! I am so excited that I found them after searching through dozens of old antique doors, because they are perfect for the space. The cool thing is that I am having the doors installed, so that the original carriage house sliding door will still close in front of them when my shop is closed. That way I won't lose the character of the building, but will give a better entry for customers.

Moving in and setting up!

The movers (Two Men and a Truck) came this past week, and they did an amazing job! I hired them for an hour, but never dreamed they would get so many items moved within that time frame. Now that the big items are in place, I'm going to move in all my art supplies, organize, decorate, and create the kind of shop that I have been dreaming about for a very long time!!! :-)

Things are happening!

Lots of things are happening in the gallery now. I have the linoleum in place on my workshop side. It will be perfect for easy clean-up when I drip a little paint. :-) Also, I am starting to hang the fabric on the ceiling to cover the insulation. It's amazing how many yards of fabric I have gone through already, and I still have a lot to cover. It really does give it a nice finished look though. The movers are coming next Tuesday to bring out all my furniture and I can't wait!!! Finally, I will have my parlor and sun porch empty and ready to decorate... and more importantly, my gallery is coming together. Yay!
